What a good tree service invoice includes

A tree job invoice should be easy to read in ten seconds. The customer should see who you are, what you did, what it costs and when to pay. Anything extra is noise.

Start with your company name, phone and email, and your logo if you have one. If your state or city asks you to show a license number, or you want to show proof of insurance, add that line to the address box. Then add the customer name and the job address, because many customers hire for a property they do not live at.

List the work in plain words. "Remove 40 ft oak, haul all debris" is better than "Tree work." If stump grinding, wood removal or cleanup is not included, say so in the notes. Most pricing disputes start with a different idea of what was included.

Estimate or invoice: which one to send

Send an estimate after you look at the tree. It should list the scope, the price and how long the price is good for. When the customer says yes, you can keep the same lines and switch the document type to Invoice after the work is done. That saves retyping and keeps the numbers the same.

Deposits and payment terms

Ask for a deposit when you must book a crane, rent a machine or turn down other work to hold a date. Use the deposit box as a dollar amount or a percent, and write when it is due in the notes. For the final bill, name a due date and say how you take payment.

Tax, kept simple

Whether sales tax applies to tree work depends on your state, and sometimes on the type of service. Your accountant or state tax office can tell you the right rate. Type it in and the tool does the math. Short explanation, not legal or tax advice.

Get the price right first

An invoice only records the price. If you are not sure your price covers crew, equipment, dump fees and overhead, use the tree job estimate builder first, then drop the number into a line here. For a reusable form, see the estimate template.

Send it the same day

Save the PDF and attach it to a text or email before you leave the site, or that evening. A quick, clear document looks professional. It also pairs well with a fast reply to new calls, which is where our services come in. See pricing if you want help catching every call.

How the math works

  1. Line amount = quantity × unit price.
  2. Subtotal = all line amounts added up.
  3. Sales tax = subtotal × your tax rate ÷ 100.
  4. Total = subtotal + sales tax.
  5. Deposit = the dollar amount you type, or total × the percent you type. It cannot be more than the total.
  6. Balance due = total − deposit.

These are estimates from your own numbers, rounded to the cent. Check them before you send.

Questions about invoices and estimates

Is this invoice generator really free?

Yes. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how many invoices or estimates you make. It runs in your browser.

How do I save the invoice as a PDF?

Press the Print or save as PDF button. In the print window, choose "Save as PDF" (or "Microsoft Print to PDF") as the printer and save. Only the invoice prints, not the rest of the page.

Is my logo or customer information uploaded anywhere?

No. The logo is read by your browser and shown on the page as a data URL. Nothing is sent to Lirevon or anyone else. Your entries are kept in this browser on this device so the form is filled in next time. Use the clear button to remove them.

What is the difference between an estimate and an invoice?

An estimate says what you expect to charge before the job. An invoice asks for payment after the job, or for a deposit. Switch the document type at the top of the form and the heading, number label and wording change.

Should I charge a deposit on a tree job?

Many tree companies ask for a deposit on larger jobs, for example when a crane or a rental is booked. The amount is your call. Type a dollar amount or a percent and the balance due updates. Write your deposit terms in the notes so the customer knows when it is due.

How do I set the sales tax rate?

Type the rate you were told to charge. Whether tree work is taxable, and at what rate, depends on your state and sometimes your city. Ask your accountant or your state tax office. This tool only does the math with the rate you enter.

What should I put in the terms?

Keep it short and plain: when payment is due, what forms of payment you take, how long the estimate is good for, and what is not included (for example stump grinding or hauling). If you need legal wording, ask a lawyer. This is not legal advice.

Can I send the PDF by email or text?

Yes. Save it as a PDF from the print window, then attach it to your own email or text. This tool does not send anything for you.

Will my saved details be there on my phone?

No. Details are saved in the browser you used, on that device only. On a new phone or computer you start fresh. Keep a copy of your company details somewhere handy.

Does an invoice help me get paid faster?

A clear invoice with a due date and a simple way to pay removes common reasons for delay. Sending it the same day as the job helps. No tool can promise faster payment, so use your own numbers and see how it goes.
