12-month marketing plan

How the math works

The plan works backward from your goal. Jobs needed equals your revenue goal divided by your average job size. Estimates needed equals jobs divided by your close rate. Leads needed equals estimates divided by the share of leads that become an estimate visit.

Your yearly marketing budget is your revenue goal times the percent you chose. Each month gets a share of the budget and the leads. The shares are a rough starting point, with a little less in January, February, July and August. Everything is an estimate from your own inputs.

What is in the plan

  • Your goals: growth, jobs, estimates and leads needed.
  • Your budget: per year, per month and per channel.
  • A month-by-month table with the focus, promo, main channel, budget, leads goal and review goal.
  • A review target and how many customers to ask.
  • A blank monthly tracking sheet.

How to use it

  1. Type your company name, the month you want to start and last year's revenue if you know it.
  2. Set your revenue goal and your average job size. Then check the close rate and estimate rate, which are starting points to change.
  3. Choose the percent of your goal to spend on marketing and split it across the six channels so the total reads 100.
  4. Add the number of Google reviews you have now and where you want to be in 12 months.
  5. Write your own promo for any month, or leave it blank to keep the starting idea. Print the plan, save it as a PDF or download it.
  6. Fill in the tracking sheet each month and compare it with the plan.

How the download works

Download CSV makes a spreadsheet file with your summary, then the month-by-month table and the tracking columns. It opens in Excel, Google Sheets or Numbers. Download TXT makes a plain text copy. Both files are made inside your browser. Nothing is uploaded and nothing is sent to us.

Questions people ask

What goes into a tree service marketing plan?

A revenue goal, the number of jobs and leads you need to reach it, a budget, the channels you will spend it on, a promo or focus for each month, a review target and a way to track results. This template covers all of those.

How much should a tree company spend on marketing?

There is no single right number. The template starts at 5 percent of your revenue goal only as a starting point you can change. Look at your own cost per job, your slow months and how much room your crews have to take on more work.

Where do the numbers in the plan come from?

From the numbers you type in: your revenue goal, average job size, close rate and share of leads that become estimates. Lirevon does not invent figures for your business. Every default is marked as a starting point to change.

Why does the plan spread the budget unevenly?

Most tree companies get more calls in some seasons than others, and storms and cleanup seasons differ by region. The month weights are a rough starting point. Change the promos and shift the focus to match your area.

What if my channel percentages do not add up to 100?

The sheet tells you the total and still shows the numbers based on what you typed. Adjust the boxes until the total reads 100 percent so every dollar has a job.

How do I set a review target?

Type the number of Google reviews you have now and the number you want by the end of the 12 months. The plan divides the gap into a monthly goal and shows how many customers you need to ask, based on the share of customers who leave a review when asked.

Can I download the plan?

Yes. Press Download CSV for a spreadsheet file or Download TXT for plain text. Both are made inside your browser, so nothing is uploaded. You can also print the plan or save it as a PDF.

Does the tracking sheet fill itself in?

No. It is a blank table for you to fill in each month with what you spent and what came back. After a few months you can compare your real results with the plan and change it.

Can Lirevon run the plan for me?

Part of it, yes. The Never-Miss-A-Job System texts back missed calls within 30 seconds, answers with an AI receptionist, follows up on quotes and asks for reviews. A free audit shows where you stand today.
