San Antonio tree permit questions

Do I need a permit to remove a tree in San Antonio, TX?

For some trees. San Antonio requires a permit for certain trees or certain sites, not every tree. San Antonio's tree ordinance (Unified Development Code Ch. 35, Sec. 523) covers private property in the city and its ETJ, and a tree permit or tree affidavit is needed before clearing, construction or tree removal. But the city says that if you live in a home where all construction is done, no tree permit is required to remove trees. Anyone paid to prune or remove trees must hold a city-issued Tree Maintenance License. Our confidence: high. Short explanation, not legal advice.

Will the tree company get the permit for me?

Some do and some do not. Ask before you sign, and get it in writing who applies and who pays the fee. In many places the property owner is the one responsible for following the rules.
