For homeowners

How long does it take to clean up after a storm?

Short answer

It depends on the damage and how busy local crews are. A single fallen tree is often a short job once a crew arrives, but after a major storm the wait for a visit can be long. Book early and ask to be put on a cancellation list.

The longer answer

Time depends on how many trees came down, whether any are on buildings or lines, and whether your insurer needs to look first. A single tree on open ground is often a short job once a crew arrives. Trees on roofs or tangled in lines take longer.

After a major storm, every tree company is flooded with calls. Ask for a date range, and ask how they will contact you if it changes.

While you wait, stay away from damaged trees and from any lines. If your roof is open to the weather, call a roofer about a temporary cover rather than climbing up yourself. Keep photos and receipts.

This is general information, not legal advice.
