For homeowners
Should I hire a tree service right after a storm?
Short answer
Only if a tree is a danger, and then hire a local insured company, not someone who knocks on your door. Get a written estimate, check proof of insurance, and do not pay in full before the work is done. If a tree is not urgent, waiting for a good company is often fine.

The longer answer
After a big storm, demand is high and some people go door to door offering quick work. Be careful with anyone who pressures you, asks for cash up front or cannot show proof of insurance.
If a tree is blocking the road, leaning on your home or hanging over where people sleep, call a company that offers emergency service. For trees that are only messy, it is usually safer to wait for a good company and compare two or three written quotes.
Call your insurer before work if you plan to file a claim. If any line is down, call 911 and the utility first.

Hiring a tree service?
Plain guides for homeowners
Safety first: stay away from downed power lines and call the utility; call 911 if anyone is in danger. Lirevon does not do tree work. Find local pros on Google Maps and read their reviews, then get two or three written quotes.
