What is Additional insured?
Short answer
An additional insured is another person or company added to your liability policy so they are covered for claims that come from your work.
Additional insured, explained for tree service owners
A property manager or city may ask to be listed as an additional insured on your general liability policy. This means that if a claim comes from your tree job on their site, their name is also protected under your coverage. Your insurance agent adds them, sometimes for a small fee, and then shows it on the certificate of insurance. Always check the exact wording the customer needs. Do not promise it before you ask your agent, because not every policy allows it. This is a short explanation, not insurance advice.
