What is Cash flow?

Short answer

Cash flow is the movement of money into and out of your business over time.

Cash flow, explained for tree service owners

A tree service can make a profit on paper and still miss payroll if cash arrives late. Money comes in from jobs and goes out for fuel, wages, insurance, repairs and loan payments. Winter slowdowns and storm surges make the pattern uneven. Track the next 8 to 12 weeks of expected money in and out, and keep a cash cushion for slow months. Planning ahead lets you buy equipment or hire without panic. A simple spreadsheet or our planner is enough to start.
