What this means for a Alabama tree company

With an average rating of 4.8, rating alone rarely sets a company apart. How easy you are to reach and how many reviews you have can matter more.

  • Be the one that can be texted. 92% of Alabama sites we loaded show a homeowner no text or chat option. A missed-call text-back can help close that gap.
  • Let people book. 93% have no booking. A simple estimate booking link makes a one-truck crew look organized.
  • Close the review gap. The median is 30 reviews. Use the review gap tool to see how many you need, then ask by text after every job.
  • Answer the phone you already pay for. Invoca reports about 27% of calls to home-service businesses go unanswered. Test yours with the answer-rate test.

How we checked

  • Companies: Google Maps results for "tree service" and "tree removal" in each Alabama metro, pulled in October 2026 and cleaned of duplicates, franchises and unrelated businesses.
  • Websites: our own script downloaded each home page (without running its scripts) and looked for a text or chat option and online booking. Sites that did not load in time are left out, never counted as a fail. Metros marked "check in progress" have not been loaded yet.
  • Ratings and reviews: as shown on each Google listing that day.
  • What it is not: not a survey, not a ranking and not a claim about any one company.

Questions about the Alabama data

How many tree service companies did you check in Alabama?

205 companies across 6 metros: Huntsville, Montgomery, Birmingham, Auburn, Tuscaloosa, Mobile. We used the Google Maps results for "tree service" and "tree removal" in those metros and removed duplicates, franchises and unrelated businesses.

What does "cannot be texted" mean?

The website had no text-us link, no texting widget and no chat. A homeowner on that site can only call or fill a form. It does not mean the phone number cannot receive texts; it means the site never offers it.

What does "check in progress" mean on this page?

It means our script has not yet loaded the websites in that metro, so we do not publish texting or booking numbers for it. The company count, ratings and reviews come from the Google listings and are already final for October 2026.

Do you name or rank any company?

No. This page shows totals and percentages only. It is not a ranking and it is not a claim about any single business. If you want to see where your own company stands, the free audit runs the same checks on just you.

How often will you update this data?

This is an October 2026 snapshot. We plan to run the same check again in 2027 and will keep the method the same so the numbers can be compared.

Can I quote these numbers or use the CSV?

Yes. The data is free under the CC BY 4.0 license. Please credit "Lirevon, October 2026 check" and link to this page.

Is Alabama a hard market for a new tree company?

The median Alabama tree company has 30 Google reviews and 17% have 100 or more, so the top of the map is busy. But 92% of websites cannot be texted and 93% have no booking, so being easy to reach is still a real way to stand out.

Why do texting and booking matter for a tree company?

Some homeowners would rather text than call, and a small crew often cannot pick up while everyone is on a job. Invoca reports that about 27% of calls to home-service businesses go unanswered and under 3% of those callers leave a voicemail. A text-back or a booking link catches people who would otherwise call the next company.

How can I check my own company against these numbers?

Use the free self-check at /check for a quick score in a few minutes, or ask for the free audit at /free-audit. The audit includes an after-hours test call and a written scorecard.

Do you need a license to run a tree service in Alabama?

Rules differ by state and city. Our Alabama license page links to the official sources. Short explanation, not legal advice.
