For homeowners
Can I put storm debris in my regular trash or burn it?
Short answer
Usually not. Many towns have separate rules for tree limbs, and burning may be banned or need a permit. Check your city or county website for storm debris pickup and burning rules.

The longer answer
After a storm, many towns announce special debris pickup. They often ask you to pile limbs at the curb in a certain way, away from poles and storm drains, and to keep tree debris separate from other trash.
Burning rules differ by place. Some areas allow it only in certain seasons or with a permit, and some ban it completely. Never burn in wind or close to buildings.
A tree service can haul debris away. Ask what is included in the quote, so you are not surprised later.
This is general information, not legal advice. Local rules differ, so check with your town.
