For tree service owners

How do I get my tree service ready for storm season?

Short answer

Check your gear, your insurance and your crew list before the season starts. Write a storm plan that says who answers calls, who goes where, and how you will price and schedule emergency work. Make sure someone answers the phone around the clock.

The longer answer

Storm season is fast and stressful. A plan written in calm weather helps a lot.

Gear: service chainsaws, chippers, trucks and lifts. Stock fuel, bar oil, chains, rope, straps and safety gear. Check first aid kits.

People: list who is on call and who can be added. Agree on rest rules, because tired crews make mistakes.

Phones: storms bring many calls at once. Decide how missed calls get a quick text reply and how urgent jobs get sorted first. Be honest in your messages about wait times.

Pricing and scheduling: decide in advance how you handle emergency jobs, and write it down so the whole team gives the same answer. Never promise what you cannot deliver.

Safety: crews should never work near a downed line. Call the utility and wait.
