For tree service owners

What should I do if Google shows the wrong phone number for my tree service?

Short answer

Log in to your Google Business Profile, edit the phone number, and save. If you cannot, claim or request access to the profile. Then fix old listings and your website, because Google can pull numbers from other sources. Check again in a few days.

The longer answer

A wrong number means lost calls, so fix it quickly.

First, find your profile by searching your business name while signed in to the Google account that manages it. Choose the edit option and update the phone. Google may review changes, so it can take a little while to appear.

If you do not own the profile or cannot find it, search for your business and look for the option to claim or manage it. Follow Google's steps to prove you are the owner. If someone else claimed it, you can request access.

Check for duplicates. Two profiles for one company often show different numbers. Duplicates should be handled through Google's tools, not by creating more.

Next, look at the places Google learns from: your website, social pages and business directories. If an old number sits on any of them, update it. Matching your name, address area and phone everywhere is called NAP consistency.

Also check any call-tracking number. If you use one, list your main number as the primary and the tracking number as an additional one so you do not confuse the listing.

After fixing, test it. Call the number shown on Google from another phone. Then check once a month. Some edits can be suggested by users, so it is worth watching.
