What is Crown?
Short answer
Crown is the upper part of a tree made of branches, twigs and leaves, growing from the trunk.
Crown, explained for tree service owners
The crown is everything above the trunk: the main branches, the smaller limbs and the leaves or needles. Its shape and fullness tell a tree worker a lot about the health of the whole tree. A thin crown with bare tips can point to stress or disease, while one side much heavier than the other can mean a lean or weight problem. For a tree service owner, the word shows up all day. A customer asks for a crown clean, a crown reduction or a crown lift, and each one means different cuts and a different price. Use the same plain words on your estimate so the homeowner knows exactly which part of the tree you will work on.
