What is Deposit?

Short answer

A deposit is a part of the job price paid by the customer before work starts to hold the date and cover early costs.

Deposit, explained for tree service owners

A deposit helps a tree company cover fuel, labor and booking time, and it can lower the chance a customer cancels at the last minute. Many owners ask for a deposit on big jobs, crane work or custom orders, and then bill the rest after the job. Put the amount and the refund rule in writing on the estimate. Small quick jobs may not need one. Rules about deposits differ by state, so check yours. This is a short explanation, not legal advice. Our deposit tool can help you pick a fair amount.
