What is Grapple truck?
Short answer
A grapple truck is a truck with a hydraulic arm and claw that picks up logs and brush and loads them without hand lifting.
Grapple truck, explained for tree service owners
A grapple truck has a boom with a hydraulic claw at the end, called a grapple. The operator uses it to pick up logs, large limbs and piles of brush and place them in the truck bed or a trailer. It does the work of several people lifting by hand, and it helps a crew clean up big storm jobs quickly. Grapple trucks are also useful for clearing roadsides and removing downed trees in neighborhoods. They cost more to buy and run than a plain dump truck, so some owners rent them for storm season. A tree service owner can use the storm capacity planner to see if the crew can handle a surge of jobs with this kind of equipment.
