What is Google Local Services Ads?

Short answer

Google Local Services Ads are paid listings shown at the top of Google search results for some home-service businesses, where the business typically pays per lead instead of per click.

Google Local Services Ads, explained for tree service owners

Google Local Services Ads place a business at the top of local search results, with its reviews and a call button. Availability depends on your trade and area, and businesses usually must pass checks before they can run them. The pricing is normally per lead, which differs from ads where you pay for every click. For a tree service, the ads can bring in calls quickly, but each call still has to be answered and followed up. Paying for leads you then miss is wasteful, so answer rate and speed matter just as much.
