For tree service owners

How do I land commercial tree service accounts?

Short answer

Show property managers, HOAs and businesses that you are insured, on time and easy to work with, then offer a free site visit and a written proposal. Commercial buyers care most about proof of insurance, safety and reliable paperwork.

The longer answer

Commercial clients worry about liability, safety and surprises. So the first step is to be ready for their questions. Have a current certificate of insurance, a short list of the services you offer, a simple website and a business email address.

Next, make a list of who hires tree work near you: apartment complexes, office parks, retail centers, HOAs, schools and local government. Send a short introduction by email or letter, then follow up with a call. Offer a free walk-through of the property and send a clear written proposal afterward.

Be ready to show your safety habits, such as tailgate safety meetings, and any training your crew has. Many commercial clients also want to be named as an additional insured on your policy. Your insurance agent can explain how that works.

Start small. A trial job or a seasonal pruning visit lets them see how you work. Then remind them before storm season or the next pruning window. Reliable, boring service is what wins repeat accounts.
