For tree service owners
Should a tree service use a live answering service or voicemail?
Short answer
A live answering service often captures more leads than voicemail, because many callers will not leave a message. If the budget is tight, voicemail plus a fast text-back is better than voicemail alone.

The longer answer
Some callers hang up when they hear a voicemail greeting and call the next company. A live service answers in your company name, takes details and can pass urgent calls to you.
A live service costs money, and plans differ a lot, so get quotes from a few providers and ask what is included. Many owners start with after-hours or overflow only, then widen if it pays.
If you stay with voicemail, improve it. Say your business name, say when you return calls, and ask for the address and what they need. Check messages several times a day, not once at night.
Add a missed-call text-back so the caller gets a reply even if they do not leave a message.
Whatever you choose, test it by calling from another phone, and review a week of calls to see how many turned into estimates.
