What is Commercial auto insurance?
Short answer
Commercial auto insurance covers trucks, chip trucks and trailers used for business, which regular personal car insurance often does not.
Commercial auto insurance, explained for tree service owners
A tree company drives bucket trucks, chip trucks and trailers all day. If a crew truck is in a crash, a personal policy may refuse the claim because the vehicle is used for work. Commercial auto insurance is built for that use and can cover damage, injuries and liability. Tell your agent about every vehicle and every driver, because a missing driver can cause trouble at claim time. Equipment such as a chipper may need its own coverage. This is a short explanation, not insurance advice. Ask your agent what your policy covers.
