What is General liability insurance?
Short answer
General liability insurance pays for damage or injury your work causes to other people or their property.
General liability insurance, explained for tree service owners
If a dropped branch dents a parked car or damages a customer's fence, general liability is the policy that responds. It covers third parties, not your own crew. Many commercial customers ask for it before they hire a tree company. The cost depends on your work type, such as climbing, crane use or removals near buildings, and on your claim history. Read what is excluded, because some policies limit work near power lines or on very tall trees. This is a short explanation, not insurance advice. Talk to an agent who knows tree work.
