What is GEO (generative engine optimization)?
Short answer
GEO, or generative engine optimization, is the work of making your website easy for AI assistants to understand, trust and quote when someone asks them a question.
GEO (generative engine optimization), explained for tree service owners
People now ask AI assistants things like who is a good tree service near them or how much stump grinding costs. GEO is about making sure your site gives clear, true answers those tools can quote. For a tree service owner that means short answer-first paragraphs, a plain list of services and service areas, an honest FAQ, and structured data that spells out who you are. It also helps to keep your Google Business Profile and website saying the same thing. Nobody can promise that an AI will name you, but clear and consistent pages give you a fair chance. It works alongside normal local SEO, it does not replace it.
