What is backlink?
Short answer
A backlink is a link from another website to yours, and search engines often treat good ones as a sign that your site can be trusted.
backlink, explained for tree service owners
When another site links to yours, it is like a small vote of confidence. A link from the local chamber of commerce, a supplier, a trade association or a local news story counts for more than a pile of links from random sites. For a tree service, good backlinks come from real relationships: sponsoring a youth team, joining a local business group, being a guest on a community page. Do not buy links in bulk. That can hurt you. Start by making sure your name, website and details are correct wherever you are already listed. A few honest, relevant links are better than many weak ones.
