Can I cancel a tree service contract after signing?
Short answer
It depends on the contract and your state's rules, so read the cancellation and deposit sections first and cancel in writing. Many companies allow cancellation before work starts, sometimes with a fee. This is general information, not legal advice.

The longer answer
Start with the paperwork. Look for a cancellation clause, a deposit clause, and any line about weather or scheduling. Note what it says before you call anyone.
Then contact the company quickly and in writing. Email or text is better than a phone call because you keep a record. Say clearly that you want to cancel, give the job address and date, and ask for written confirmation and what happens to any deposit.
Timing matters. Cancelling well ahead is usually easier than cancelling the morning of the job, because the crew's day is already planned. Some companies charge a fee for late cancellation to cover the lost slot.
Keep copies of the signed agreement, your cancellation message and their reply. If the company will not confirm in writing, send one more message that sums up the conversation.
For a bigger dispute, a local consumer protection office or a lawyer can advise you. Rules differ by state.

Hiring a tree service?
Plain guides for homeowners
Safety first: stay away from downed power lines and call the utility; call 911 if anyone is in danger. Lirevon does not do tree work. Find local pros on Google Maps and read their reviews, then get two or three written quotes.
