For tree service owners
How fast should a tree service reply to a new lead?
Short answer
As fast as you can, ideally within minutes. Homeowners often contact several companies, and the first useful reply has the edge. An automatic text within about 30 seconds can hold their attention until you can call back with a real answer.

The longer answer
There is no magic number that fits every lead, but speed clearly matters. A person with a tree problem is worried and often asks more than one company.
A good target is a first reply within minutes during working hours. If you cannot call, send a short text: you got their message, you are on a job, and when you will call.
After hours, set up an automatic reply so the lead does not go cold overnight. Then call back first thing the next morning.
Make the reply useful, not just fast. Ask for the address, a photo of the tree and what worries them. This gets you closer to an estimate before the call.
Follow up if you do not hear back. One message is rarely enough. Plan a short series over a few days.
Track your own times. Check when the lead came in and when you first replied. Look for gaps, such as late afternoons or weekends.
Our speed-to-lead tool lets you see what slower replies may cost, using your own numbers. These are estimates, not forecasts.
If your crew is too busy to reply, a missed-call text and an AI receptionist can cover the first contact.
