What is call routing?
Short answer
Call routing is the set of rules that decides where an incoming call goes, such as to the owner, an office, a crew phone or an AI receptionist.
call routing, explained for tree service owners
Call routing sends each call to the right place. Rules can depend on the time of day, the number dialed, the caller or whether the first person answers. A tree service might ring the owner for three rings, then the office manager, then an AI receptionist or voicemail with an instant text-back. After hours, emergency calls could ring an on-call phone. Good routing means no ring goes unanswered while the crew is up a tree. Test it by calling your own number at different times. Keep the rules simple, write them down and review them when staff or seasons change.
