What is Text-back number?

Short answer

Text-back number is a phone number that can receive and send text messages, used so a business can reply to customers by text, including when a call is missed.

Text-back number, explained for tree service owners

A text-back number is the line your customers can text and your system can text from. Many tree companies have a landline or a call-only number that cannot receive texts at all. In our October 2026 check of 4,108 tree company websites across all 50 states, 92% showed no text or chat option on the website. A text-capable number lets you send a reply after a missed call and keep one thread with each customer. Your customers should recognize the number as yours, so use the one already on your trucks and website.
