What is search intent?
Short answer
Search intent is the reason behind a search, such as wanting to learn, compare, find a nearby business or hire someone right now.
search intent, explained for tree service owners
Two people can type similar words and want very different things. One searching how to prune an oak wants to learn. Another searching tree trimming near me wants to hire. Search engines try to match each page to the intent, so a blog post will not rank well for someone ready to book, and a sales page will not rank well for a how-to question. For a tree service, make service pages for people who want to hire, and guides for people who want to learn. Each page should end with a clear next step, such as a call button or a free quote form. Match the page to the need and results usually follow.
