What is Answer rate?

Short answer

Answer rate is the share of incoming calls to a business that a real person picks up, out of all the calls that come in during a set period.

Answer rate, explained for tree service owners

Answer rate shows how many of your ringing calls actually reach a person. For a tree service, the crew is often up a tree or running a saw, so the phone goes unanswered even when the business is busy. Each missed call is a customer who may call the next company on the list. To find your answer rate, count the calls you received and the calls someone answered, then divide answered by received. Check it by day and by hour, because busy afternoons and storm days are often the worst. A low answer rate is usually a staffing and routing problem that can be fixed.
