Google review link generator

By Umair Nawaz, founder of Lirevon Updated How we test tools

Paste your Google Place ID and get three things: a direct link that opens your "write a review" box, a QR code for invoices, cards and the truck, and a short text message to send after each job. It all runs in your browser. Nothing is sent anywhere.

Learn more: review request, review gating, review velocity, Lirevon offers.

1. Find your Place ID

  1. Open Google's free Place ID Finder (it opens in a new tab).
  2. Scroll to the map and type your business name the way it shows on Google Maps.
  3. Pick your listing from the list. Check the name and address are yours.
  4. Copy the Place ID shown on the map. It is a long code, often starting with ChIJ.
  5. Paste it below. A review link from your Google Business Profile ("Ask for reviews") also works.

2. Your text message

3. Review goal planner

A rough goal from your own numbers. The reply rate is a starting point, change it once you see your real result.

Your review link

Paste a Place ID to make your link.

Always test the link on your own phone before you print or send it.

Your QR code shows here once the link is ready.

How it works

  1. Review link = https://search.google.com/local/writereview?placeid= followed by your Place ID. If you paste a review link from your Business Profile, it is used as it is.
  2. QR code = that same link drawn as a QR code (error correction level M, so a small scratch or smudge still scans). It is drawn on this page with plain code; no outside service sees your link.
  3. Text message = your template with the customer name, business name, link and your name filled in.
  4. Text length = one text holds 160 plain characters, and 153 per part when it is longer. Emoji and curly quotes change it to 70, and 67 per part.
  5. New reviews a month = jobs finished per month × the share who post when asked.
  6. Months to your goal = (review goal − reviews you have now) ÷ new reviews a month, rounded up.

Questions about Google review links

What is a Google review link?

It is a web address that opens the "write a review" box for your business on Google. The customer taps it, picks the stars, types a few words and posts. They do not have to search for your name or find the right listing first.

How do I find my Google Place ID?

Open Google's free Place ID Finder page (search "Place ID Finder" on Google; it is on the Google Maps developer site). Type your business name as it shows on Google Maps, pick your listing from the list, and copy the code that appears. Most business IDs start with ChIJ. Paste the whole code into this tool.

Is there an easier way than the Place ID?

Often, yes. When you are signed in to your Google Business Profile, look for a button such as "Ask for reviews" or "Get more reviews". It gives you a short review link. Paste that link into this tool and you still get the QR code and the text message.

Does the customer need a Google account?

Yes. Google only lets people who are signed in to a Google account post a review. Most phones are already signed in to a Google account. If a customer is not, Google asks them to sign in first.

Where should I put the QR code?

Anywhere a customer looks after the job: the invoice, the estimate sheet, a leave-behind card, a door hanger or a magnet on the truck. Print it at least about 1 inch (2.5 cm) wide, with white space around it, and test it with your own phone before you print a batch.

Can I give a discount or a gift for a review?

No. Google's rules do not allow paying, discounting or giving anything in return for reviews. Reviews bought this way can be removed and can put your listing at risk. Just ask, and make it easy.

Can I send the link only to customers I know are happy?

No. Google's rules do not allow "review gating", which means filtering out unhappy customers before you ask. Send the same request to every finished job. If someone is unhappy, call them and fix it; that is good service either way.

Is it OK to text the review link to customers?

Short explanation, not legal advice: text only customers who gave you their number for the job, say who you are, and stop when someone asks you to stop. Rules differ by state. Our text compliance checker walks through the main points.

How many reviews will this get me?

Nobody can promise a number. It depends on how many jobs you finish, how good the work is and how often you ask. The planner on this page uses your own job count and a reply rate you can change, so you can see a rough goal and then track the real result.

The link opens the wrong business or an error. What now?

The Place ID is usually cut off or belongs to a different listing. Copy it again from the Place ID Finder, check the name and address match your business, and use the Test the link button before you print or send anything.

Is anything I type sent to Lirevon?

No. The link, the QR code and the message are made in your browser. Nothing is sent to us. Your entries are only kept in this browser on this device so the form is filled in next time. Clear your browser data to remove them.

Can Lirevon send review requests for me?

Yes. Review requests are part of our Never-Miss-A-Job System: after a job is marked done, the customer gets a short text with your review link, so nobody has to remember. See the services page for what is included.

Asking is the hard part
