Trees and pests
State-level lists as of 2026, not a survey of Las Vegas; check your state's official pest map. Ask a certified arborist or your county extension office what is active near you. More in tree care in Nevada.
Storm season
Strong winds and summer thunderstorms with flash floods are the main risks, with snow in the north in winter. Wildfire season in the north often runs from summer into fall.
After a storm: stay clear of leaning or split trees, call the utility for downed lines and 911 if anyone is in danger. Read what to do after a storm or see live storm warnings.
Permits
We could not confirm a city tree permit rule for Las Vegas. Call the city planning or forestry office before removing a large tree, and check your HOA rules.
Short explanation, not legal advice. See tree permits by city and what to ask about permits.

Strong winds and summer thunderstorms with flash floods are the main risks, with snow in the north in winter. Wildfire season in the north often runs from summer into fall. Have large trees near the house checked before the season starts.
In the hot south, avoid heavy pruning in peak summer heat and ask an arborist about palms and desert trees. In the north, late winter is a common time for dormant pruning. Ask a certified arborist about your tree.
It depends on the tree size, how close it is to the house or lines, access for equipment, cleanup and stump work. We do not publish prices for tree work. Get two or three written quotes so you can compare.
We only name a company when its owner claims a free profile and agrees to show it. We do not rank companies, there is no pay-to-rank, and claimed profiles are shown in alphabetical order. To see every local company, search Google Maps and read their reviews.
