Hiring a tree service: questions

How do I find a good tree service near me?

Search Google Maps, read recent reviews and how the owner replies, then get two or three written quotes from insured local companies. Our city pages add local facts, permit notes and a hiring checklist.

Does Lirevon rank or recommend tree companies?

No. Lirevon does not do tree work and does not rank, review or endorse tree companies. City pages show totals from our own check, plus claimed profiles in alphabetical order.

Where do the numbers on these pages come from?

From our own October 2026 check of 6,842 Google Maps listings for "tree service" and "tree removal" in 182 metro areas, cleaned of duplicates, franchises and unrelated businesses.

Why is my city not listed?

We checked 182 metro areas so far. If your city is nearby, the closest metro page and the state tree care guide still apply. For permits, call your city or county.

Do I need a permit to remove a tree?

It depends on your city, the tree and the site. Some cities protect large or street trees. Check the city page or call the city before work starts. Short explanation, not legal advice.

What should I ask a tree company before hiring?

Ask for proof of liability insurance and workers’ compensation sent by the insurer, a written quote with cleanup and stump work, who gets any permit, and when the crew can start.

How much does tree removal cost?

It depends on tree size, how close it is to buildings or lines, access, cleanup and stump work. We do not publish prices for tree work. Get two or three written quotes.

I own a tree service. Can I be listed?

Yes. Claim a free, opt-in profile on our claim page. We confirm you run the business before it goes live, and you can change or remove it at any time.
