What is Change order?

Short answer

A change order is a written agreement to change the work or price of a job after it has been quoted.

Change order, explained for tree service owners

Sometimes a job grows: the customer wants another tree cut, or the crew finds a hidden problem. A change order records the new work and the new price before anyone does it. It stops arguments at payment time. Keep it simple: describe the change, show the extra cost and get a signature or a text reply. Send a copy to the customer and file one with the job. Never start extra work on a verbal yes alone if you can avoid it.
