What is Crane load chart?

Short answer

A crane load chart is a table that shows how much weight a crane can lift at each boom length and distance from the machine.

Crane load chart, explained for tree service owners

A crane load chart tells the operator how much the crane can safely lift at different boom lengths, angles and reaches. The farther the load is from the crane, the less it can lift. That is why a small log near the truck is easy while the same log over the back of a house may be too heavy. Crews estimate the weight of each piece and check it against the chart before the pick. The chart also includes a safety margin set by the maker. For a tree service owner who hires cranes, asking about reach and capacity before the day helps avoid delays, surprise charges and unsafe lifts.
